Web 2.0, CSAP and dust bunnies of the mind
In an interesting convergence, myself and the technology goddess have begin our wiki project two weeks early. We have moved it forward because it is CSAP time and, honestly what else are we going to do with them?
Once again the kids have amazed me at how quickly they have found ways to use the new technology to annoy me. That is one advantage to new technology, eighth graders then have new and interesting ways to be pains, instead of the old analog methods for being pains.
Case in point, using the discussion feature on wikispaces as a digital note passing medium, they missed the part about me being able to see everything on the wiki. Now I need a textspeak to English dictionary. OMG TTR jkjkjk.
I hope this brings out the best in the kids, I have had a blast setting it up, but it was a lot of work. All due credit to the technology goddess, she has done most of the ground work is setting this up and it was her idea in the first place. Of course anything new is work, it should get easier each time I do the project, right?
I am starting to transform this into my class blog and podcast. I hope it can act as a repository for assignments and student work. I hope people will use it. If you have any experience with this kind of blog or just any ideas please write.
CSAP seems to drain everyone involved. I think it is sitting waiting for the time to end as much as the test. I am going to post students reflections on CSAP soon. I do not have a problem with the CSAP test, I do have a problem with what the tests are used for.
My students, check you class page for some extra credit. It will be your only chance at extra credit and to be blunt, some of you really need it.
